EDMONTON ELKS
A rare Thursday night event on our Weekend Guide – but an important one! It’s the Edmonton Elks Home Opener as they welcome the Montreal Alouettes to Commonwealth Stadium Thursday at 7pm. The new stadium house band will make its debut and the half-time show features the Super Dogs! The Brick Kid Zone is FREE for anyone to check out and opens in the Commonwealth Fieldhouse 2 hours prior to kickoff!

UNDER THE SEA
This weekend is your final chance to check out the Under The Sea feature pyramid at Muttart Conservatory! The feature pyramid will close after Sunday so it can be changed to the next theme – “Imagination”!

THE WORKS ART & DESIGN FESTIVAL
The Works Art & Design Festival runs June 21 through July 1 in and around Downtown Edmonton. Check out the impressive array of visual art pieces, many of which will be set up in Churchill Square!
The festival includes some fun, FREE drop-in activities for kids, including a Pet Rock workshop and a chance to make art in the Ground Works Garden.

ALBERTA CIRCUS ARTS FESTIVAL
Contemporary circus arts hits Edmonton’s French Quarter at the Alberta Circus Arts Festival. The weekend includes a number of FREE events like the drop-in stilt walking and juggling workshops!

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY
Saturday, June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples day. A number of Edmonton venues have special activities to mark the day:
—TELUS World of Science Edmonton – Indigenous-inspired activities indoors and a tipi-raising and free BBQ outdoors.
—Royal Alberta Museum – Special programming offered June 19-22 including finger weaving and a moccasin craft.
—Art Gallery of Alberta – Saturday’s schedule will include an Elder blessing, a special performance and gallery tours.
—Fort Edmonton Park – Mark the day with cultural performances, music and a smudge ceremony, among other special activities.
—Canadian Native Friendship Centre – From noon to 6pm in Borden Park enjoy storytelling, performances, a market, Indigenous games and more.

EDMONTON RIVERHAWKS
The Edmonton Riverhawks are back in town for a weekend homestand against the Wenachee AppleSox! Don’t forget – every game has a THEME!
–Dig out your Halloween costumes because kids 12 and under in costume will get FREE admission to the Friday 7:05pm game!
–The Saturday 7:05pm game is Pride Night – check out those rainbow pinstripe jerseys!
–The Sunday 1:05pm game is Baseballs and Body Slams – a wrestling-themed game!

FIRE STATION OPEN HOUSE
The City of Edmonton’s Fire Station Open Houses are back! Go inside a fire station and meet the firefighters who help keep our communities safe! This week’s event is happening at Station 31 – Windermere, 3865 Allan Drive SW.

PETS IN THE PARK
On Sunday, June 22, head to Buena Vista Park with your furry friend for Pets in the Park, a fundraising event for the Edmonton Humane Society. The event includes a Walk & Run to support the cause, a Dachshund Dash, and a family fun zone with bouncy castles!

REEL FAMILY CINEMA AT METRO CINEMA

PLAY RANGERS
The City of Edmonton’s FREE outdoor drop-in play program, Play Rangers, is aimed at kids 6 to 12 years old who can attend alone or with an adult. It runs Saturdays from 1:30pm-4:30pm in Whitemud Park. June activities include shelter building, disc golf and outdoor games.

KIDS BOWL FREE
Rainy weekend? Go Bowling! It’s not too late to sign up for the Kids Bowl Free program! Kids can get up to 2 free games of bowling every day of the Summer -You just have to pay for shoe rentals! There is also an option to upgrade to a family pass. The program is now running at 4 Edmonton & area locations.

IDEA LAB KIDS
Get your SLIME on! Visit IDEA Lab Kids in St. Albert on Saturday morning for Slime Splat-urday from 10am-10:45am. Register in advance to make your own slime in this 45 minute workshop. The theme for Saturday, June 21 is Fizzy Volcano Slime! (We’ve made this one before and the kids LOVED it!)

THE MAKERY
The Makery is a S.T.E.A.M. facility for kids, located in Sherwood Park. The Makery is offering four sessions of drop-in Open Play this weekend. Choose from 10am or 2pm Saturday OR 9:45am or 2pm Sunday.
The Makery also offers Slime Lab on Sundays from 1pm-1:45pm! The slime theme for Sunday, June 21 is Mermaid Slime!
